Pulled Pork Sandwich

I found this recipe in one of my favorite magazines, Canadian Living, and made it a few weeks ago!! It was so yummy, tender & juicy that I am making it again today for dinner. It is simple with very little prep, and it sits in the slow cooker all day just absorbing all of the saucy goodness! Here it is for you to try...your sure to make apart of your family favorites.

Saucy Pulled Pork in the Slow Cooker

3 1/2 lb boneless pork shoulder blade roast

3/4 tsp each salt & pepper

2 tbsp veg oil

2 onions diced

3 or 4 cloves of garlic, minced

2 tbsp chili powder

2 tsp ground coriander

2 bay leaves

1/4 cup tomato paste

1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce

2 tbsp each packed brown sugar & cider vinegar

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 green onion, sliced

Sprinkle pork with salt & pepper. In a dutch oven, heat oil over med heat: brown pork all over. Transfer to slow cooker.

Drain all but 1 tbsp fat from pan, cook onions, garlic, chili powder, coriander & bay leaves over med heat, stirring occasionally until onions are softened, about 5 minutes.

Add tomato paste: cook, stirring until darkened, about 2 minutes.

Add tomato sauce, sugar, vinegar, & the W sauce; bring it to a boil scraping up the brown bits. Scrape into the slow cooker & cook on low until pork is tender. 8 - 10 hours.

Transfer pork unto cutting board; cover with foil and let stand for 10 minutes. With 2 forks, shred or "pull" pork.

Meanwhile, pour liquid from slow cooker into large saucepan: skim off fat. Bring to boil over high heat; boil until reduced to 3 cups, about 15 minutes. Discard bay leaves. Add pork. Reduce heat and simmer until hot, about 4 minutes. Sprinkle with green onions.

Well I have been making lot of Christmas cards lately but took a break to use this cute stamp from Stampingbella.com! I have had it for a few months but forgot about it as it got thrown into a box with other stamps. I thought it would be cute for an "I'm thinking of you" type of card!

I made this card into the easel style fold. So I matted the sentiment and popped it up to allow the card to sit opened! I also added a flower punch with a small button brad.

Festive Snowmen

I LOVE Snowmen!!! And I know that I am not the only one! I love decorating my home around the holidays with Snowmen of all sorts! And when buying stamps, I fall for the ones with snowmen! So here is another card with some Festive Snowmen! The stamp is from Tara Reed Designs, Stamps Happen Inc

Card Recipe:

Red CS 6 x 12 & folded at 6

I used some of my paper scraps for the various panels

Stamp and color the image

I also used red ric rac, a mini paper clip, twine, a snowflake brad

I also cut a scallop circle with my Big Shot and Scallop circle #2 die

which I then used a large circle punch to give me a sort of boarder!

A Snow Family

Here is my latest Christmas card to add to my collection! I am slowly getting a pile ready to mail out across the Country for family & friends :)

Card Recipe:

Whisper white cs base is cut with my Big Shot and the large scallop circle, I made a fold in the card before I ran it through, leaving a small portion at the top so that both pieces are still attached. Then I cut another large scallop and taped it to the base so that it shows the whole scallop! (Hope this makes sense!)

The blue circle is cut with the Big Shot and large clear circle die

The red scallop circle is cut with the Big Shot and the scallop circles #2

Then I stamped the SU Flaky Friends image on WW CS and used a large circle punch.

I used markers and stickles. I added bakers twine and pop dots to add dimension.

O Holy Night

I have been busy for the past few weeks trying to design and add new cards to my collection that I have for sale! This is one that I love. The stamp is from Inkadinkado!

Here is the card recipe:

Cut a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 CS in half length wise at 4 1/4

Fold in half so that it stands as a portrait fold

Stamp image with versa mark ink and emboss with gold embossing powder

Cut image so it fits approx. 1/3 of the page and cut gold pattern velum to fit remainder 2/3's

With a corner round punch, round out the 2 opposite corners

Add a ribbon detail where the image and velum meet.

Add a verse inside.

I wanted to share a few pictures from my photography class! I have had my DSLR camera for perhaps 2 years but didn't really know how to use it, I mean really use it. I did manage to take a few nice pictures using the auto setting but that is not really why I wanted the Canon. I wanted to take some nice pictures. I love photography. And I would love to somehow take this love and passion and use it to take pictures of people & things that I would not normally do. I would love to become experienced enough to take a photo for a family that they would want to hang on their wall, or perhaps get the perfect shot of a flower or bug that could be used for a magazine!!! Shooting too high?! I don't know if I will ever get there, but in the mean time I am having fun learning and taking the information and capturing whenever and of whatever I can! Lets just say that there is ALOT to learn about photography and cameras and all that goes along with it! I completed the basics of photography class...I still have alot to learn! But here are a few of the pictures I took...some are good and others not so much :)

Remembering my Summer

I will always remember the Summer of 2011! I was thrilled to have my Dad & Step Mom visit us in Alberta all the way from Newfoundland! And the icing on the cake was having my sisters Diane & Wavey visit around the same time! I know it may not seem like much, but due to age & health plus the long distance for travel I really didn't think that I would get to see my parents in my home. Dad celebrated his 79th birthday here in Fort Mcmurray!! And it was a true blessing. There is no one person that I admire more than my Father. He is & will always be my #1 hero. Not because of any heroic act that the managed to do. But for being the man that he chooses to be. He is sweet and charming. A true man of God. I treasure every thing about him. Anyway here are a few pictures of their visit. We didn't do any great or exciting things, but we did the things that matter most. We spent time together chatting and laughing about the past. We went out for a nice dinner & celebrated. We went to garage sales & thrift stores. We cooked and Dad taught me how to make bread from scratch! Those are the best memories ever...for me when I think of my childhood, I don't remember the places that we went but rather moments spent with family. And I am sure 20 years from now if I am still alive I will remember this past Summer just as these pictures show. A stroll on the boardwalk, having birthday cake and my husband cutting my Dads hair ( and me being so worried that he was shaving him clean! lol). Looking forward to celebrating Dad's 80th birthday next August!

Im Memory of Max

Max passed away this Summer. His health was failing and after many visits with the Vet and my Sister-in-law doing everything in her power to will him and nurse him back to health he finally let go. He put up a hard fight. And he was playful and loving right to the end. We certainly still miss him. And I hate to think of what it must feel like losing a fur baby as I have 2 of my own. But you love them and care for them and help them lead the life that they love.

Why am I struggling to get back to blogging? I did enjoy it and I think I still do, perhaps it is just one of those things...the longer you stay away the harder it is to get back into! Well here I am again, trying to get back into it!! I am having one of those days...not really in the mood to do much! Well I guess I have already managed to get some things done, you know a bit of house cleaning, I have been to the grocery store to get some beef for steak on a bun for dinner tonight. Also I went to the thrift store (love getting deals!) and picked up a couple of sweatshirts and a cute basket. Then I came home and HAD to take the dogs for a walk...Mollie will not leave me alone until I take them out! Which is a good thing considering my mood, I may not have gone! But yeah, I am feeling a little down. Perhaps the weather or just hormones...I don't really know. I am going to try to update here and hope it helps!!! Sorry for the boring update:) But it is all life right!

A long overdo update! Summer was good!

When Summer arrived this year my routine went haywire! No time for card making or scrap booking. I had family visiting for a month so there were a few odds & ends that needed to be clues up before their arrival. Add to that the task of building a garage from scratch!!! We managed to get in a few weekend getaways & camping in there too. Anyway, it was all good. The highlight was having my Dad & Step Mom along with 2 of my sisters visit. There were lots of laughs. We celebrated Dads 79 th birthday. Memories that will be with me for years to come.
This brings me to today. Sitting here having coffee with my hubby & planning our weekend. It is going to be busy for sure. But I hope to have the time to come back to post about a few of the highlights of my summer a little closer. Such as learning to make bread from scratch (with the help of my Dad). Becoming a healthier me & losing 40 lbs!! Joining the Y! I must say... I love Summer, but my favorite season is Fall! It's great to be back, to blogging & a routine. I have to try to catch up on all of my favorite blogs too : )

Fancy Fold Card

I had fun making this card for a baby girl! I will certainly make more of these fancy fold cards.

I used various stamps that I had which I thought would be suitable for a baby girl!

And the embellishments and ribbon are from my stash, the flower is from SU!

I love this little giraffe!

Again the last fold. The CS and DP is from my stash, and I used a CM corner punch.

My Craft Space Before and Now!

Well I was just happy to have a space to keep all of my ~~treasures~~

ahh...crafty mess! I had a side server that we had in our old kitchen which provided some storage and then I had some tables! I was happy :)

The computer is also in this room.

I thought the system for storing my scraps was the best thing....(the small clear drawers! But boy did it ever take up alot of space!

And then my sweety & I were at Ikea and found this great desk/shelving system!

He insisted that I get it! (I have been eyeing The Original Scrapbox for awhile...knowing full well that the price was too steep for us right now!) And even though he knew that he would have to spend an afternoon putting it together, he convinced me to get it!

I am so glad he did...look at the nice space I have to lay out paper or whatever I am working on!

I like to have most of my tools and supplies out and handy for when I need them, otherwise I forget that I have it!

This side table is where I use my Cricut tools or sewing machine (mostly use the machine for cards!)

My stamps, texture plates, big shot dies and punches are all stored into the various storage boxes.

I still have this side bar in the room for storage and because I just can't get let myself to get rid of it! It is much neater now though!

The other side of the room has the computer desk and Leos smurfs!

This room is not as neat or well organized as most of the craft spaces that I've seen on some blogs. But I love it, it works for me & if I want to take a break from a project I can leave everything and close the door!

How to make the SPOT card with pictures!

I used my Gypsy to lay out all of the cuts. And then used the scraps of paper in the colors that I wanted.

I did plan to use a Peachy Keen face stamp for the dogs face, however the cut was larger than the stamp.

I thought that the stamped face would look to small on the size of the dog. So I cut a 2nd piece with the face cut out.

I used a larger card base to allow for the larger cuts of the house and the dog.

I cut the clouds, grass and ball by hand.

I used pop squares to raise the dog and give it a 3d look.

The bird sitting on the dog house is a rub on

I also used a white gel pen for highlights, black sickles on his nose,

ribbon and a bell for the color and I used googlie eyes on the dog.

I had fun with this card! Hope you enjoy and if you have any questions I am more than happy to help!

Healthy Peanut Butter Cookies with Strawberry Jam

I wanted to make a healither cookie. I like having little snacks on hand but want to try to keep it as healthy as I can. I made 2 batches of these cookies, the first time cutting down the oil however they were quite dry. So the second time I use the whole amount of oil and put in extra peanut butter. They were so much nicer! You have to make sure that you do not over bake these as they will turn hard.

Allow to cool and top with a small dallop of strawberry jam!

Recipe:

PREHEAT OVEN TO 375*

2/3 cup conola oil

3/4 cup peanut butter

Mix both to combine, add

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup white sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

Mix all of the above ingredients until combined

In a second bowl stir to combine

3 cups rolled oats (perhaps a little less as the dough is pretty crumbly)

1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour

1/4 cup unsweetened coconut

1 tsp baking power

1/2 tsp baking soda

Add the dry to the wet ingredients and mix to combine. Roll into balls, flatten abit. Bake on a parchment lined cookie sheet! Nice in the morning with a hot coffee!

SPRING is HERE!

The weather has change and the snow is finally melting!

Did I say...Spring is here!

So it is time to clean and freshen up everything around the house.

Time to bring out the flowers and watering cans.

So I am looking forward to having a healthy Easter brunch with my new Spring Blooms table runner.

I had fun making this, it took me about 3 hours in total. Once I started I didn't stop until it was complete! If you would like to know how I did this in a little more detail click here!

Mocha Chocolate Icebox Cake

Well I just celebrated my birthday last week and rather than do an actual cake I thought I would make this Mocha dessert that I saw on the Food Network! And it was SOO GOOD!!! The only problem that I have when making these large desserts is that it is way too much for 2 people. So usually half of it gets tossed. I think I will try to cut the recipes in half from now on.

I found this recipe on Food Network, it was on the Barefoot Contessa here!

Ingredients
2 cups cold heavy cream

12 ounces Italian mascarpone cheese

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup coffee liqueur, such as Kahlua

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, such as Pernigotti

1 teaspoon instant espresso powder

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

3 (8-ounce) packages chocolate chip cookies, such as Tate's Bake Shop

Shaved semisweet chocolate, for garnish

Directions

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, combine the heavy cream, mascarpone, sugar, coffee liqueur, cocoa powder, espresso powder, and vanilla. Mix on low speed to combine and then slowly raise the speed, until it forms firm peaks.

To assemble the cake, arrange chocolate chip cookies flat in an 8-inch springform pan, covering the bottom as much as possible. (I break some cookies to fill in the spaces.) Spread a fifth of the mocha whipped cream evenly over the cookies. Place another layer of cookies on top, lying flat and touching, followed by another fifth of the cream. Continue layering cookies and cream until there are 5 layers of each, ending with a layer of cream. Smooth the top, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.

Run a small sharp knife around the outside of the cake and remove the sides of the pan. Sprinkle the top with the chocolate, cut in wedges, and serve cold.

Side notes: the above is the recipe from the website. However I did make a couple of changes. I didn't have espresso powder so I added a little extra Kahlua. Also I used 1 & 1/2 packs of Chips Ahoy cookies.

Welcome Spring!

Doesn't this fairy look all ready for Spring? While it still looks like Winter here in northern Alberta, I am longing and more than ready for warm mornings and beautiful flowers...(I do have fresh tulips in a vase on my table)! I had fun with this card, it is the first time that I've tried stamping on velum and it works great!

I placed this wall hanging in my craft room! It looks great on the yellow wall:)

So I found this dark green and brown wall hanger (flower holder?) at The Salvation Army for $1.50

I knew that a coat of paint would help it out!

The original has the brown coming through the green.

I love this aqua blue color and wanted the same effect with the white!

So I just quickly put a coat of blue, not being too particular.

Once dry, I sprayed a coat of white. I used this KILZ primer because its what I had on hand and I like the flat finish that it has. I then took a sanding sponge and gave the raised flowers a roughing up showing the beautiful blue! Simple but that is what I love about it! Any ideas on what else to put in there? I thought I could store some scrapbooking supplies/tools but it is too deep...and a pair of scissors would get lost!

Easy as {banana} Pie!

I wanted to make some mini pies for dessert one day and as I was picking up the pie crust I had planned on doing Lemon pies. Those are a favorite that I've made before...with thick meringue. But then I saw a Jello pudding pack for banana cream and knew that I wanted to try it! They were easy to make (everything is from a box or can) but couldn't have been ~~better~~ tastier! I made 6, ate 1 right away and had another for after dinner dessert and my hubby ate 2. We each had another a few days later. The pudding held up well even after 3 or 4 days in the fridge.

Just bake the crust as directed. Mix the pudding (this one is a cooked pudding which took a bit of time in front of the stove. You have to stir constantly. Add a little whipped cream and enjoy!

Card Swap!

I been apart of a Card Swap group on Facebook for quite awhile now! We sign up for a swap and create usually 6 cards for various themes. I thought I would post some pictures of the cards I've made for this months swap. Our theme is Spring/Easter. We were to create 3 for each, adding ribbon or embellishments. We then send them to Tyra (the girl who started the group). She then divides them up and sends back 6 cards to each of us!

Winter Soup

Well sometimes when I have free time to check out some of my favorite blogs, I'll have the TV on with either a design show or cooking show on. I like the Sunny Anderson show Cooking for Real. I saw her make a Butternut Squash soup one day and it looked GOOD. While I didn't keep track of a recipe I did get the basics of what she did and had to try it myself a few weeks later. This is my first time trying butternut squash and I LOVED it!!

How good does that look!!! It was sweet and savory, hot and creamy! And HEALTHY!!!

Butternut Squash Soup

1 medium size butternut squash

2 medium carrots peeled and diced

1 medium onion diced

2 celery stalks diced

olive oil

salt & pepper to taste

pinch of nutmeg

Chicken or Vegetable stock, reduced sodium

light sour cream

Preheat oven to *350. Slice squash in half, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle salt and fresh ground pepper. Place on a lined baking sheet cut side up, bake until tender. It takes about 20 minutes but check with a fork.

Next in a soup pot heat a small amount of olive oil and saute the diced veggies until tender. Scoop out the seeds from the squash and discard. Scoop the remaining squash from the peel and add to the pot with about 3 cups or so of stock. Let it simmer for another 10 minutes to let the flavours meld. Next blend with a stick blender right in the pot until smooth. Sprinkle in some fresh nutmeg. Add a dollop of sour cream. Serve with crusty bread.

Had fun shopping! Now all I have to do is get the inspiration to use these!!

Spending almost 3 weeks in Calgary right after Christmas left me with lots of time to look for sales! And using the money that was given to me for Christmas I bought lots of goodies for scrapbooking and card making!! We don't have a Micheals where we live so my Husband knows that when we go to the city that is one of my must stop places!

I finally got a ATG Gun! I took it out of the box finally and it is the best! I have so many little tape runners, from many company's. The only one besides the ATG that is worth using are the ones from Stampin Up!.

Other note worthy finds were carts for $16.99 each. That is unusual for Micheals here in Canada (from my knowledge) And I found cheap rubber stamps with my initials! Don't know what I will use them for but thought they were cute!

I picked up extra paper, a large pack of glue sticks and some cute little chipboard memory book albums and more stickers!

This whole lot of goodies were together in a value pack, it said the value was at $75.00 and the price was $14.99!!! It was a really good deal, lots of brads and embellishments.

I just have to get into my room tomorrow to complete 6 cards for my next swap!

Cupcake anyone?

Like most people (except Duff), I love a sweet cupcake every now and then. Have you ever watched the show on Food Network, Ace of Cake? I would love to make those type of cakes, but really making cupcakes is ok right now. So when in Calgary I stopped into Crate & Barrel and wanted to get some of the cute things they have. We don't have this store here so I was having fun just looking around. I got my first Kitchen Aid stand mixer for Christmas and when I saw this cute recipe box called The Cupcake Deck I knew I had to have it!

There are 25 cupcake & frosting recipes with beautiful pictures! So I hope to go through each one and take a picture and share here on my blog. I am also going to share the cupcakes with my husbands co-workers after taste testing with him at home!

The first cupcake that I wanted to make is the Carrot Orange and Golden Raisin Cupcakes They were a success!! The frosting has cream cheese and grated orange peel!

Ooops!!! Did I say that this was my first time using my mixer?! I paid a little more attention when switching it on!

Recipe:

1 Cup all purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

2 lg eggs

3/4 cup sugar

2/3 cup canola oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp grated orange zest

1 cup finely chopped or grated carrots (about 2 carrots)

3/4 cup golden raisins

1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 325*F Line 12 muffin tin cups with paper liners. Spray the paper liners with nonstick spray.

Make the Cupcakes

Sift the flour, baking soda, salt, & cinnamon into a med bowl & set aside. In a large bowl, with mixer on med speed, beat the eggs and sugar until smooth and thick, about 1 minute. Scrape the bowl as needed. On low speed, mix in the oil, vanilla, and orange zest until blended. Mix in the flour mixture to incorporate it. Mix in the carrots, raisins and walnuts.

Fill each paper liner with 1/4 cup of batter to about 1/2 inch below the top of the liner. Bake just until the top is firm and a toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 28 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan and then move to a rack to cool completely.

Make the Frosting

In a large bowl, using a mixer on low beat the butter, cream cheese and vanilla until smooth and thoroughly blended, about 1 minute. Scrap the bowl as needed. Add the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth, about 1 minute, then beat on medium speed for 1 minute to lighten the frosting further.

Use a large spoon to mix in the orange zest into the frosting. Spread onto cupcakes with spatula or piping bag as desired. Top with a walnut half and orange zest!

They were yummy!! And a hit with my husbands co-workers :) So much so that they are requesting more!!

A Wonderful Christmas Day to Remember!

Well my SANTA spoiled me once again! There were a few things that I asked for! And there were a few things that were a surprise :) But once the gifts were opened and the wrappings and ribbons were put away is when the day actually came alive! We had a nice morning together, I made us breakfast and then I started prepping for the big Christmas dinner! We had family over, so I kinda splurged with turkey and prime rib. I must say that the turkey turned out better than the prime rib! And then there were all of the fixings that goes along with a turkey dinner for us Newfies! In the pot I added salt ribs and beef, peas pudding, bread pudding, carrot, turnip, potatoes, cabbage. I also made sweet potatoes, dressing, gravy and can cranberry sauce! It was so good! And then there was the cookie & square plate and lemon pies for dessert!
Company was the best, my hubby's sister and her hubby along with her 2 grown boys! And our other niece were here! It was certainly a Christmas day to remember!!

I enjoy decorating and putting up lights, baking and shopping! All that this wonderful season has to offer. I guess if I have a theme this year it is ||Red & White Cozy|| I created the frame with the verse, with inspiration from here. I made over the stockings which came from the Dollar Store! Now I am going to enjoy some baking, finish wrapping and enjoy Christmas! I hope you'll have yourself a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2011!!

Dollar store stockings made over!

This year I wanted to hang stockings for both myself and my hubby as well as our 2 dogs! And I didn't want to spend a small fortune, so I went to the Dollar Store and picked up 4.

I didn't know what I wanted to do except add our initials. So I used my Cricut with black and white vinyl. I cut the letters from Plantin Schoolbook as well as 2 paws from Paper Pups. I had the red stripped ribbon and used the glue gun to adhere the ribbon. The bells were not the color I wanted so I lightly sprayed some white paint, strung & attached them with thread. I love how they turned out!! Now I just have to remind my hubby to fill mine,,,I have some things for his & the puppies!!

Red Onion Jam

I made this recipe one afternoon when I was checking out one of my favorite foodie blogs here!. I would say that it is more like a relish than a jam. But it is great on a sandwich, on a pork or beef roast or just as a condiment. Try it for yourself!!

Red Onion Jam

2 tbsp butter

3 tbsp olive oil

salt and pepper to season

3 large red onions, sliced or chopped

1 large shallot minced

1/2 tsp ground dry thyme

1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg

4 tbsp balsamic vinegar

2 tbsp dark brown sugar

1/2 cup red wine

In a small pot or saute pan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Throw in the onions and shallots, season with salt and pepper and saute until the onions are completely cooked and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Add the brown sugar,thyme, nutmeg, balsamic vinegar and red wine and simmer together until the red wine reduces and the mixture comes to a thick jam-like consistency. Remove from heat and serve or bottle in mason jars for later.

I made extra and put in the mason jars for gifts when I send my Christmas box back home!

Brownies with a Kiss!

I saw a version of these brownies on another blog (I just went through my blog list but can not find where I saw these! So if it was your blog, let me know and I will link back to you!!). It is a simple way to take the average brownie up a notch!

First you need to get your favorite brownie mix and a bag of Hershey carmel kisses.

Mix the brownie batter as instructed. I did my brownies in muffin tins, they are the perfect size and if sprayed with cooking oil they pop out easy. Evenly place the batter in the muffin tin (I got 8 brownies!) and add one unwrapped kiss. Push the kiss into the batter but not to the bottom.

Bake as directed. Let cool for 5 minutes, frost and enjoy! They are yummy warm and gooey!

Well I'm trying to come up with a new name for my blog. And it is not as easy as it may sound! There are so many cool blogs out there with really cool names and I don't want to copy those. My current name is not as original as I first thought! So a few that I've come up with so far are

While I've been doing some crafting in the past month it has been Christmas gifts so I don't want to show until after the Holidays!! Well I am kind of sad that summer and the little warm weather that we had is over...although I LOVE Autumn!!! It has been a really busy few months for my. We moved into our new place and I had a trip to my hometown for 2 weeks. We are finally getting settled, and I can't wait to get all of my scrapbooking goodies out of storage. I have not been able to do anything creative for awhile (well I did get to do a few pages with my 12 year old niece when I was visiting!). I am going to take abit of time to see what all has been happening on my fave blogs. Here are a few pics of my trip home!

Well here we are again....another Throwback Challange from Emma at My Creative Time! As with all of the previous challanges, we are to use an older Cricut cartridge...I don't own the pick for this week, Doodlecharms. So I picked A Walk in the Garden. It is one of the first that I bought! Here is my layout!

I am off to Lilith Fair tomorrow! It is a 5 hour drive...the concert is on Monday so I am just a tad excited! I LOVE Sarah McLachlan...and there will be other great artists! So I was short on time but still managed to get this layout complete. I love how it turned out! I have some journeling to add later.

I used the tulip card cut, which I cut at 11"! I hope you like, it was fun!

Well, here we are again...Emmas 3rd challange and mine as well! We had to make a 3-d or altered item! And of coarse use an older Cricut cartridge in the project. I don't have paper dolls so I made a flower from Accent Essentials for the front of my bag and I cut a heart from My Pink Journey which I place on the back! I added 4 note cards as a gift pack...perhaps for one of my sisters! Thanks for having a look...and please go to My Creative Time and see what the other awesome crafters created!!

Its been a busy day around here...my only day off , I am back to work tomorrow for another 6 shifts ): I shouldn't complain bc I love to spend money on all of the wonderful papers, stamps and cartridges for my addiction! LOL Anyway along with the regular cleaning, errands & baking cookies and buns...oh and making supper I managed to do the challange for My Creative Time - TBT 49!

For the ice cream card I placed a pink brad under the cherry so the ice cream scoop can swing to either side revealing a heart!!

I made a band to keep the pack of cards together, and used a small strip of velcro to keep it close.

The challange was to use the cartridge "Stretch Your Imagination" if you have it but we had to use the colors brown, blue & red! Because I am still a newbie at Cricut, I thought it would be a good idea to make a pack of cards...using a variety if images from the cartridge. So here are 6 cards and a band, all with the 3 main colors. I love how they turned out.

I saw a version of this on Chick n Scratch and thought I would do one for my craft table! I love the color of the material, I used an old skirt that I got from a second hand clothing store!. I used a mason jar and some poly fill, used a glue gun and added some ric rac to finish it off!!

This is my Fathers Day card for my Dad. And it is also my submission for MPS color challenge.
For this card I used Gypsy Wanderings (the cute little bird), Gypsy Font (Dad) & Stretch your Imagination (the fun birdhouse!) I hope you like it! I know my Dad is going to love it :)

I just thought this stamp from CC Designs is adorable! I used the scallop die and my Big Shot, layered paper, did some sewing and added a gem for the cherry on top of the ice cream! I also added some layers to the inside of the card. I used a flower punch which revealed the yellow 2nd layer and a small circle which reveals the 3rd pink layer!

As far as I know this is the only photo that I have of my Mom and Me alone together. She passed away 20 years ago so I treasure this. We both look rather sad here, but I don't remember why. I added both the orginal and a copy. I added my journeling behing the larger photo, it opens like a card where I added brads.

I had this cat pin in my drawer for awhile and thought it would be cute to use in a card. I used my scallop die with the Big Shot and then embossed using a texture plate. The ribbon is from my stash and the stamp is CC Designs(I think that is the name! I will check later!!)

I enjoyed making this card for my neice and nephew in law! They completed something very special in their lives and I wanted to send along a congrats! It is simple but pretty. I used Sizzix texture plate for the embossing, and SU butterfly punch. The brown ribbon is from my stash and I added some prima flowers to the notecard.

This card is 5 ½ x 4 ¼ I used pink and black CS from my stash and the green and pink glitter CS is from Martha Stewert Crafts, I also used a black and white designer paper for matting. I used a 1 ¾ SU punch, Sizzix scallop die, lg dots texture plate and the Big Shot, Martha Stewert scallop edge punch, CRICUT Expressions and Paper Pup cartridge. I also used a white gel and a black Zig pen. The sentiment is from AmyR Stamps and is stamped with SU black ink.

While we are having a major Spring storm with 30cm of the white stuff having fallen in the past 24 or so hrs and 5 - 10 more to come I still woke up early and am ready for the day! All because I am going Scrapbooking for the whole day with other silly girls who will be struggling to walk through drifts of heavy slushy SNOW!!! It was nice and dry for a few days in my back yard, I had all of the leaves raked and was even going to bring out the patio funiture this weekend! Oh well, it is suppose to warm up next week so it will melt quickly! Off to get my things together for the day!!

This is the photo box that I started at a scrapbooking class at a local shop but finished at home after my Christmas holidays in my hometown of Stephenville! There are alot more photos but this is the general idea. I love it and will have it for a long time to come!

Well I guess the biggest news I have is that I now own and love my Cricut Expression!!! After going to a scrapbooking event, and getting to use one I fell in love and HAD to have my own! So on one of our shopping trips to Edmonton I bought my very own pink Cricut. While I've only had it for 2 months I have 8 carts. with the hopes of getting a few more in the next little while! And I have a Gypsy coming in the mail! So lets just say I am hooked! The things I can do with these toys are limitless...esp. with all of the inspiration from the awesome sites such as The Pink Stamper! I would say that I am addicted...:)

Matchbook Card

Here is another version of the matchbook card. This time I made it alittle bigger and did a card for the inside instead of an envelope and gift card holder. And I used a hole punch and ribbon instead of the staples. Once you do the first one, you can adjust the size and the CS colors and stamps.

This is a card I made for my neice who is turning 20 next week!! And I plan to get a gift card for one of her favorite stores to attach to the inside.

Cut a 3-3/4″ x 11-5/8″ piece of CS. Score it at 1″, 6-3/8″ and 6-5/8″ using your paper trimmer with scoring blade. Crease along the score lines using your bone folder.
Stamp your greeting from your favorite stamp set on the 1″ “flap” at the bottom of the matchbook in black ink - you want make sure it is right side up when your matchbook is closed.
Mat a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of DP onto the front cover of the matchbook. Set aside.
Stamp a cupcake or other birthday picture onto a 2-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ piece of white CS in black ink. Color in the cupcake color pencils. I added glitter to the background of my cupcake.
Take one of Stampin’ Up!’s small open-ended envelopes and trim the envelope so that it is 5-1/8″ long – make sure that the end you trim off is the open end with the flap. Punch a 1/2 oval out of the top front edge of the envelope using a wide oval punch.
Stamp a image on the envelope and color to match.
Grab your matchbook, place the bottom of the envelope in the crease of the 1″ flap. Staple the 1″ flap closed (to hold the envelope in place) with 2 staples (you want them to be less about 1/8″ up from the bottom edge).
To create your tag take a 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ piece of CS. Punch out a wide oval corrosponding CS and fold it in half over the edge of the CS. Stick it in place with adhesive.
Punch a hole through the wide oval tag with a hole punch. Tie a 6″ piece of ribbon through the hole and trim the ends.
Stick your gift card to the tag with one mini glue dot. You’re done! Hope this is clear, let me know if you have any questions!!

I also plan to send a early Christmas card to a young cancer patient whos parents are celebrating early due to his worstening condition. And I am going to try to get an address to send a card to the families of Fort Hood in the USA.

Reindeer Box

I found a version of this box on my fav website, Splitcoaststampers.com.
And I had to try to make it...it turned out pretty good.
You need Sizzix Scallop Envelope Die to make the box, cut 4 out of a brown CS
Fold at all of the fold lines. Run some snail adhesive along the folded lines. To make the reindeer, you need various punches. I didn't have the exact ones that was recommened but like always, I used what I have. I used an oval punch for the head, and a larger oval for the body. 2 flower pedals for the ears and 1 for the nose in black.
I didnt have a punch for the antlers so I drew them on CS and cut them out. The eyes are punched with a teardrop punch. Punch 2 small circles with black for the hoofs, cut a edge off both. Cut a piece of red CS ( I ran mine thorough the Big Shot with a texture plate) for the front of the box. And a banner for the verse on the front. Sponge the reindeer parts, attach the head to the body, add the ears & antlers to the back of the head. Add the eyes and nose, highlight with a white gel pen & add eyebrows with a black pen. Add the banner & hoofs with dimensionals.

Who knew a USED DRYER SHEET could be so pretty!!

This card is one of my favorites so far!!! You are just going to have to save an old dryer sheet to complete it. I found a ttuorial on a wonderful site, Splitcoaststampers.com. Here is a quick version, cut your card to whatever size you want. Stamp image on neutral cardstock. Color image or parts of image if desired. Spray image with spray adhisive. Apply used dryer sheet over adhesive. Trim dryer sheet. Pour glitter over top of image. Rub glitter into dryer sheet. Tap off excess glitter. Finish your card using ribbon, or other embellishments.
